Our domain expertise, accreditations and availability of expert resources mean we can enable the digital transformation of key processes quickly, accurately and securely.
We know from experience how equipment capability and system management work in Defence in peacetime and on operations, and we have a strong track record of delivering cloud-based secure compliant toolkits, which work in real time and with 24/7 support.
Our knowledge and expertise come from within. Our company’s founders are military veterans and technology industry experts. With a wealth of experience across the company from the defence and security sector, we have a first-hand understanding from having been in the customers’ shoes.
It’s our shared experiences, expert knowledge of the defence environment and deep understanding of its people, how it operates and its raison d’être that enables us to know what’s needed, when and how.
By teaming with our customers, we aim to make the complex simple and by streamlining the delivery of defence capabilities to build a stronger, more efficient team to meet today's challenges.
As a company, we have significant sector insight, technical capability and military experience and we are constantly looking ahead to ensure that we retain and recruit the right people with the right skills, experience and passion.
Many of our team previously served in, or supported, the British Armed Forces and its key suppliers; others have joined us from the financial or corporate sectors because they want to be part of a team that supports our armed forces or their suppliers. Each is passionate about their work and how best they can support our customers.
Our software experts come from a wide range of industry sectors including FinTech, E-Commerce, AI, Cloud Services, Defence and Security, and leading technology companies. This depth and breadth of technology know-how and customer involvement, coupled with a wealth of experience from key sectors, means we’re always using industry best practices and cutting-edge technology to answer our customers' most challenging business problems.
As a long established ISO27001 certified company, we have extensive individual and team-based information security (IS) capability resulting from the successful development and delivery of a wide range of secure technology products that are compliant for use across the MOD network.
While the development and delivery of cost-effective software is always going to be a high priority for our customers, the increasing risk of trans-national cyber-attack from sovereign-based threats and criminal organisations is a key driver in the design, testing and delivery of secure software. Our understanding of these threats means security is the preeminent driver at all stages of the software development life cycle.
From the earliest stages of our software development, through to testing, verification and validation - our People, Policy, Processes and Technology are all security and risk focussed.
As an accredited digital supplier to the MOD and the wider defence and security sectors including industry suppliers, we fully understand the need for all of our products and services to be risk-assured. At each stage of our product design, development, delivery and ongoing support to our customers’ operations, we apply the principles, procedures and processes set out in HM Government’s security framework. Likewise, our internal company operations are underpinned using the same framework thereby ensuring a seamless approach to our product and operational life cycle.
Acquisition management & equipment support
The core principles and overarching objectives of the UK MOD’s Through Life Management (TLM) and Acquisition System Operating Model (ASOM) are in our DNA, and are a key driver in the design of the digitised products that we deliver to support Tri-Service military capability at platform and fleet level. We provide our customers with network-compliant management tools that use a combination of proven COTS software, updated and adapted as required, and bespoke solutions. Both provide a cost-effective, innovative solution to our customers’ specified requirements and expected outcomes.
In an era of tight budgets and limited capital equipment inventory, we understand the 24/7 challenges our customers face to ensure asset and platform availability. We have designed a range of products to improve the availability, safety and cost effectiveness of Tri-Service key defence assets. Be it the RAF’s Typhoon or a Mk II Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, we design digital solutions that enable our customers to get the best value for money and availability from their platforms.
A key benefit of working with us is that we fully understand the need to deliver a complementary change management and decision support plan alongside digitised solutions.
An integral part of our offer is to provide consultancy as well as technology development. This supports our customers to experience real change and improvement from their new system, and to embed and operate their new capability quickly, and at reduced risk. Our team includes experienced change consultants, who work ‘hand-in-hand’ with our customers to understand the likely hurdles and pitfalls, thereby ensuring successful on-boarding, and embedding new ways of working.
Integrated product support (IPS) - or Integrated Logistic support (ILS) as it was previously defined, is a key function within the world of military equipment and systems capability management. Our knowledge and experience of the UK military’s ways of working and in particular its IPS strategy, ensures our product offerings are designed to support both management and technical functions, informing operational and materiel requirements and design specifications required to enable performance-based logistics.
We have the knowledge and experience to work alongside our military customers to assist in the planning, development and delivery of cost-effective performance-based product support strategies that meet their key requirements for materiel and software throughout the acquisition life cycle.
Our products also help our customers to improve reliability and maintainability of their complex equipment assets, supported by digitised one-time entry data analysis, reducing management overheads and maximising equipment performance, availability and supply chain data.
The UK MOD’s Digital Strategy for Defence clearly sets out the challenge facing UK Defence and Security - ‘to facilitate faster, better decisions and improved Defence outcomes’.
At tlmNexus we recognised early in our history the scale of the opportunity provided by the Defence and Security sector’s digital transformation. We brought together two companies with different yet complementary skill-sets and which have achieved a successful track record in delivering digitised business processes and technology-based products to a broad range of defence customers. Today, we create digital representations of the defence and security equipment support environment, reflecting the real world and making it much quicker and easier to take maintenance and management decisions based on accurate, real-time data.
We are currently supporting the UK MOD with a number of products that provide digitised business processes for both legacy and 2020+ digitised equipment. Our work in support of the RAF’s Typhoon fleet delivered a digitised business process that gave their management teams 24/7 access to critical information required to assess aircraft safety, reliability and operational availability. In recognition of work with the Typhoon Team, in 2018 the company was awarded the Queen’s Award for Innovation.
As well as designing innovative technology solutions to our customers key operational requirements, we also offer managed application support and secure hosting. This support can take a number of forms including the provision of a 24/7 fully managed service where the application service is constantly monitored to achieve optimised performance. We offer a range of service options such as a 24/7 help desk providing on-line expert software support, and we are able to deploy personnel to work at the client’s site as a full-time, part-time or occasional support team member.
We also offer on-line or ‘on-site’ training support and refresher courses for all of our products’ capabilities, while ‘Evergreen’ software keeps us ahead in evolving and urgent new requirements.
We have a passion for understanding our customers’ capability management and operational challenges. In 2018 the company received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in recognition of our success in developing and delivering innovative digitised products that deliver the solutions, outcomes and benefits expected by our customers. Early on in our company journey we recognised that successfully implementing digital technology was about more than just developing and designing new products, or adapting COTS, MOTS or ‘ready-made’ digital solutions.
It is our experience that the successful implementation, adoption and utilisation of new capability by the user is dependent on embedding the product in the customer’s operational environment, and our Customer Success team has a key remit to ensure the customer and our delivery team are fully aligned and coordinated for the life of the contract.
While the safe operation of military equipment has long been a key requirement in its design and subsequent operation, achieving appropriate levels of compliance with civilian health and safety law and regulations is a more recent development within the last thirty years.
We provide cost effective digital products that enable our customers to manage large complex equipment inventories and system applications. Our extensive knowledge of Safety Assessment and Compliance means that we can deliver a fully auditable issue and case management functionality that has equal utility in the Land, Maritime and Air domains.
