The primary aim of attending and supporting events is to reinforce the association of the tlmNexus brand and our experience and capabilities with existing and potential customers. We now have a regular calendar of events at which our repeated attendance goes with our established position in the industry.
It’s been a tricky time building and maintaining business relationships over the last 24 months, so it’s never been more important to capitalise on any opportunity for face-to-face interactions with clients – phone calls and emails are no substitute for ‘IRL’ (In Real Life).
This is a showcase of innovative defence and security SMEs, putting these SMEs in front of government and military equipment procurement staff and major defence companies. The show is held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, Worcestershire. Over 1600 delegates and 130 exhibitors took part in the November 2021 event, including ourselves……..and we’re a Silver Sponsor for the 2022 event which means that our brand will be even more in the spotlight!
Tech Data World Live (TDW-Live)
A three-day integrated product support (IPS) conference held in November near Bristol, this event attracts a good turnout of MOD staff from DE&S at Abbey Wood. The conference featured expert IPS practitioners from the UK and overseas, including speakers from both MOD and industry, to discuss the new S-Series specifications for product support and how the benefits of emerging technologies such as digital twins can be leveraged. Being an event sponsor, we got the chance to deliver a presentation as part of the proceedings.
Our membership of the
Team Defence Information trade association provides visibility of events that are focussed on the defence Information Systems domain. The first event of 2022 was the Support Chain Seminar held in January at the Bristol Aerospace Museum in Filton. This event focused on the support that Industry Partners provide to their MOD Customers in the context of Integrated Product Support (IPS) within the ‘Digital Age’. Well attended by senior figures from MOD and Industry our position under the fuselage of Concorde gave us the opportunity to try out our new exhibition stand that puts more emphasis on our digital capabilities. Keynote speakers from a diverse range of leaders, innovators and subject matter experts briefed their audience on a whole range of topics. Most notably AI, Augmented Reality and Multi Domain Integration (MDI), all in the context of IPS.
We’ve been a regular sponsor of the
SMI Defence Aviation safety conference over the years. Held at the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington in April, the conference attracts an international audience of defence military and civilian personnel, ranging from operational to engineering, who gather to share their organisations’ approaches to managing aviation safety.
Organised by the Defence Support Organisation in Strategic Command and supported by Team Defence Info, SupportNET 22 was hosted by Lt Gen Richard Wardlaw – Chief of Defence Logistics and Support (CDLS) and Air Cdre Ange Baker – Head of Force Development, Sustainability and People in Defence Support. There were some insightful presentations covering platform and equipment availability and the development of superior, assured, environmentally friendly and cost-effective logistic services to deliver support advantage (better availability, more of the time, and possessing more resilient supply chains). Key themes throughout the presentations were on Net Zero and carbon reduction to provide a sustainable support advantage. This supports the BD carbon profile opportunity as sustainability and Net Zero were a key part of the Support Advantage Industry Charter, that was signed at the end of day one and will influence all future MOD procurements.
The Defence Procurement Research Technology Exportability (DPRTE) 2022 event was held at the Farnborough exhibition centre in May. DPRTE is a well-established trade show that provides an opportunity for buyers to meet suppliers who are delivering innovative products and services so this is a great environment for us to show our brand. Being within reasonable travelling distance of Brighton it also provided an opportunity for some of the commercial team to experience the atmosphere of a defence trade event.
Not only that, we were sought out by Hellios who manage the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register (JOSCAR) and who presented us with our certificate of accreditation.
Defence Information 22 (DI22) took place in June although we only had an online presence at this event. Still, it was good for our logo to be seen among names such as Google, IBM, Salesforce and Fujitsu. Run by the Defence Digital organisation and supported by Team Defence Info the programme addressed the subject of ‘Mobilising the Defence Digital Backbone’ with a keynote presentation from the Defence CIO, Charlie Forte.
In July we joined Whitetree, Occam Group and Reuleaux for an evening networking event on the SS Great Britain in Bristol docks. The event attracted a good turnout from MOD personnel at Abbey Wood, including several of our own customers and it was good to have the opportunity to meet face-to-face once again.
Between 21st – 22nd September, we exhibited at
DVD 2022. DVD is a biennial Defence industry exhibition staged at the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire that enables focussed engagement between Defence industry, DE&S Delivery Teams, Army HQ staff and other Defence community users of Land Equipment.
On our stand, we demonstrated a version of our Damage and Repair Tracker (DaRT), used by several DE&S Air Platforms including those in the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) and Typhoon, which had been configured to show the Challenger 2 tank.
